Braised Abalone with Assorted Vegetables Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1lb can abalone

  • 1 green onion, cut into 6 pieces

  • 6 slices ginger root

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water

Ingredients A:

  • 6 tender bamboo shoots

  • 6 baby corns

  • 3 bok choy

  • 3 Chinese black mushrooms

  • 1 cup nappa cabbage, cut into bite size pieces

Ingredients B:

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup stock

  • Dash of sesame oil, black pepper, sugar

Method:

  1. Cut the abalone into paper thin slices. Lengthwise, halve the bamboo shoots and baby corns. Cut the bok choy and Chinese black mushrooms into quarters

  2. Heat the wok then add 3 tablespoons oil. Stir fry the green onion and ginger root until fragrant. Add Ingredients A; stir briefly then add Ingredients B.

  3. Cover and cook to boiling; after it comes to a boil, cook for 2 more minutes. Add abalone slices and cornstarch mixture to thicken; stir. Transfer to a serving plate; serve.
