Steamed Spareribs with Sweet Potato Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb pork back ribs

  • 1 package "Jen Rou Fen" (1/4 cup)

  • 1 cup sweet potato, peeled, cut into bite size pieces

  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion

Ingredients A:

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon sweet bean paste

  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine or sherry

  • 1 teaspoon hot bean paste

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • Dash of black pepper

  • 1/2 tablespoon chopped ginger root

  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic clove

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon water

Method:

  1. Cut the ribs into 24 pieces; add in Ingredients A; mix and marinate for 30 minutes. Add "Jen Rou Fen"; mix

  2. Line the bottom of a steamer with the sweet potato; place the ribs on top of the sweet potatoes. Steam for 40 minutes. Remove to a serving platter; sprinkle with the green onion.

"Jen Rou Fen" is a special type of prepared meat-flavored rice powder available in packages at many Chinese markets.
