Nori Rolls with Chopped Pork Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 lb ground pork

  • 4 oz shrimp paste or fish paste

  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion

  • 4 sheets nori

  • Oil for frying

Ingredients A:

  • 1 egg

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • Dash of black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine or sherry

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch

Method:

  1. Mix together the ground pork, shrimp paste, Ingredients A, and onion (filling). Divide into 4 portions

  2. Place 1 portion of filling at one end of a sheet of nori; roll it up to the shape of a baton. Repeat this procedure with the other three portions

  3. Heat the wok then add oil. Deep fry the rolls over medium heat for 5 minutes; remove and drain. Slice the rolls into small pieces; arrange them on a serving plate; serve.

To prepare shrimp paste: Rinse and devein shrimp; drain. Use the flat side of a cleaver to mash the shrimp; then chop finely. Put mashed shrimp in a bowl and stir until the mixture becomes sticky.
