Chinese Herbs

Nowadays, human being is consuming lots of medicines which are made by non-natural ingredients (chemicals). No doubt, some medicines have successfully treated different diseases and saved many lives from the claw of death; but they may also cause side effects or after effects to human being due to their non-natural chemical ingredients.

Thus, herbs are widely "re-used" nowadays on various things such as food, cosmetics, drinks, skin care products and as well as medicines. This is actually not a new practice. Using herbs to treat diseases, revitalize bodies,  and even using them on cooking was carried out broadly in ancient civilization. Herbs offer a chance of alternative treatment for those, who are not satisfied with modern synthetic medications effectiveness or cannot use them for some reasons (about 10% of patients are reported not to respond properly and adequately to the modern medications). One of the most "attractive" advantages of using herbs is the low risk of adverse reaction or side effects, as compared to pharmaceutical drugs.

Chinese believes in ying-yang balance in our bodies. When ying-yang energy levels are off balance in the body and spirit, then our health will be in alarming stage. Thus, lots of Chinese cooking involves in various of Chinese herbs to help realign the ying and yang balance in the body to improve the well being.  The Chinese herbs used in cooking are primarily of plant origin, which include roots, bark, seeds, flowers and leaves. Each organic ingredients has its unique characteristics that are reinforced and harmonized in comprehensive ancient Chinese herbal formulas which were passed down for thousands of years. And of course, in order to fully revitalize the body through Chinese herbal cooking, one will need to take it regularly or for certain period of time as the natural herbs will not give as fast effect as the modern synthetic medications.

Lastly, some words of caution. Although most of the herbs have little or no harmful effects, some herbs might cause slightly undesired reaction on some people (this is normal as individual has different reactions to things). Thus, try one herb at a time with small doses, and continue taking it if no side effect. And without any doctor advice, please don't use Chinese herbs as substitution for serious chronic disease medications.
