Chinese Style Braised Beef One Pot

Ingredients:

tablespoons olive oil

cloves garlic, slice into thin pieces

tablespoon shredded fresh ginger root

scallions, sliced

red chili pepper, deseeded and thinly sliced

lbs stewing beef, cut into large cubes

tablespoons all purpose flour, seasoned with salt and pepper

teaspoon Chinese five spice powder

teaspoons brown sugar

tablespoons dry sherry

3
tablespoons dark soy sauce

cups beef broth

Method:

Heat the shallow casserole and 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Stir fry garlic, ginger, scallions and chili pepper for 5
minutes until fragrant. Remove to plate

Toss the beef into the flour. Add 1 tablespoon to the wok,
brown the meat in batches, remove.

Add the five spice powder, tip in the gingery mix, then fry
for 1 minute until the spice is fragrant

Add sugar, then the beef and stir until combined. Splash in
dry sherry, scrapping up meaty bits, heat over to 300F
-
Pour in the soy sauce and broth, bring to simmer. Tightly
cover the casserole, transfer to the oven and cook for 2
hours, stirring meat halfway through

When the meat is soft, season with more soy sauce

Ready to serve. Or keep frozen up to 1 month
